One reply to “Is Collaboration Worth It?

  1. Our agency moved into an office complex with 7 other nonprofits, but essentially none of them want to share I.T. interns, office supplies, or other resources. Despite the good rent, we were discouraged by our neighbors. About a year ago we started providing a variety of back-office services for Behavioral Health nonprofits, and it has been a WONDERFUL experience that has allowed us to create a tiny revenue stream, extend our reach, grow two programs, and make better referrals. The relationship has allowed the partnering agencies to focus on growing their programs and membership services without worrying about administrative headaches. Now we’re writing grants together and sharing a lobbyist. I would be glad to share more, but essentially it depends on who the partner is, how motivated they are to collaborate, board support, and trust.
